Recently, Apple hired 5 White- Hat (also known as “ethical”) hackers to spend a significant amount of time uncovering vulnerabilities within their network. In the end, this group of people uncovered 55 weak spots, with 11 of them being critical. According to Business Insider,  Apple did manage to immediately address and contain the vulnerabilities as soon as they were disclosed without experiencing malicious acts by outsiders.

It is no surprise that a company of this magnitude should face challenges maintaining their online infrastructure. However, this should be any eye opener to other businesses that even the most prepared companies and ones you think have all knowledge in the world are still vulnerable. Collaborating with cyber security experts, ethical hackers, and researchers is an interesting strategy to help further prevent these kinds of issues in the future. Having a dedicated team to proactively analyze your systems is paramount to staying secure.
