One of the easiest ways for sensitive data to be stolen from your company is by having a subpar password or leaving a computer unlocked.  A lock screen and password are your first line of defense, and should be formatted with that in mind.

Protect sensitive company data by:

  • Using longer alphanumeric passwords with upper/lower cases and symbols. This will dramatically increase the amount of time it can take to crack your account. Estimated password-cracking times.
  • Never storing sensitive information including client information and passwords on post-it notes or on notepads that are easily accessible or in plain sight.
  • Never leaving your computer on. If you step away from your desk, even for a minute, secure physical access to your workstation by using ctrl-alt-del to bring up the lockscreen.
