If you ever find yourself stumped trying to complete a task online, or are just looking for a better way to multitask, this is the Tek Tip for you!
- Precise video sharing – Ever need or want to share a YouTube video at a precise point? It’s pretty simple with YouTube’s sharing feature! Find the video you’d like to share and scrub through to your desired point in the video. Right-click on the video progress bar and select “Copy video URL at current time.” Use this link to send. Another option is clicking the “share” button at the bottom of the video, and selecting the box that says “start at (_:_).” Whatever point you scrubbed to in the video will display in that selection option.
- Multiple desktops (Windows 10) – If you have a single monitor and are juggling various tasks at one time, having multiple virtual desktops can make your life much smoother. Windows 10 Task View pane gives you that option. How do you add a desktop? First, open the Task View pane by clicking the “Tasks View” button. From there click “New Desktop.” Once you have multiple desktops in play, you can switch between them just by opening the Task View pane and clicking which virtual desktop you would like to use.
- Start using keyboard shortcuts – On most computers, you can find and adjust your keyboard shortcuts, but for a quick list of useful ones for both Mac and PC, check out an earlier Tek Tip of ours detailing 10 Timesaving Keyboard Hacks.
- Splitting your screen – Often, you’ll need to view two windows at the same time. Instead of wasting time manually adjusting the size of each trying to get them to fit, click the title bar and drag one window to the side of your screen. A light outline will appear of where the window will automatically resize to. Once in place, you’ll have the option of choosing from your other windows to fill the opposite side of the screen.
